Frequently Asked Questions

  • Does an hour walk include travel time?
All of our walks are one hour long not including pick up and drop off. Dogs will be returned to you after a quick wipe down to prevent muddy paw prints in your home.
  • How many pets are included in the home visit price?
The cost of our Home Visits is £14 for 30 minutes or £25 for two visits in one day. This applies to a maximum of two dogs or three cats. For other small pets please contact us to discuss.
  • Will I be charged if I cancel a service at short notice?
We are very flexible when it comes to booking and 24hr notice will ensure there is no cancellation fee.
  • Does my pet need to be vaccinated?
All Dogs need to be fully vaccinated, wormed, flea and kennel cough treated. All Cats need to be fully vaccinated, wormed and treated for fleas.
  • Do I need to be at home when you collect or drop off my dog?
Most clients are happy for us to hold a key. All addresses and alarm codes will be kept separate from keys and secure at all times. Keys will be kept on person during the day and then stored in a safe overnight.
  • I see you offer home visits for other small pets, are there any animals you will not look after?
We do not have any experience with snakes, spiders, birds or other reptiles.
  • What hours can you provide services?
We are open from 8am to 9pm 7 days a week with no additional surcharge for weekends and bank holidays.
  • How do I book?
Please contact us via email, WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram or by phone with your requirements. The next step is a free, no obligation meeting with you at your home. This will give us an opportunity to become familiar with your pet/s and home, discuss our services and answer any questions you may have. We will send you an online registration form to fill in prior to our visit. If you are happy to proceed we can arrange dates and will send additional forms that are needed (these must be completed before any service can take place). Once all forms are completed an invoice will be sent for full payment, this can be made via bank transfer, credit/debit card, Apple Pay or cash.
  • How many dogs do you walk at a time?
On a group walk the maximum number of dogs will be four, when we first take your dog for a walk they will be walked solo until we find suitable companions, they will then be introduced to one dog at a time. Group dog walking is a fantastic way to socialise your dog and build their confidence.
  • What happens in an emergency?
If we have an emergency situation with your pet, we will contact you immediately to discuss. If we are unable to contact you and urgent attention is required we will take your pet to your nominated vet or Marshalswick Veterinary Surgery where Walks This Way is registered.
  • Do I have to pay for services upfront?
We will require full payment to secure your booking, this can be made by Bank transfer, Apple Pay, Credit/Debit card or Cash.
  • Will my dog be walked in all weather conditions?
We may either shorten or postpone a walk due to extreme weather conditions. For days that your dog cannot be walked a home visit service will be offered.
  • What forms do I need to complete and can I fill them in online?
We have tried to make this process as easy as possible, all of our forms will be sent to you on “Jotform” (quick sign up process needed) or we can provide paper copies to complete. In order to use Walks This Way services you will be required to complete some or all of the following: Client registration form, Veterinary release form / Medication release form, Terms & Conditions of Engagement and a Key release form (this may be in paper form).
  • Will my dog be allowed off the lead?
We will only walk your dog off the lead with your written consent and your dog displays a solid recall.
